Using generative artificial intelligence to translate texts into English

These guidelines aim to help users navigate the challenges presented by generative AI and the particular use case of translating texts from Catalan into English in accordance with the Interuniversity Style Guide for Writing Institutional Texts in English. They were put together by the English Language Quality Team (formerly the English Language Quality Work Group) of the Vives Network of Universities Language Committee over the course of a year, starting in early 2025, during a period of rapid transformation in the field of language technology.

In a dynamic environment, learning to adapt is as important as learning to use any particular tool. This guide is intended as a starting point within that ongoing process.
